Strengthening the bond between cousins from early childhood

The bond that can be established between cousins can be wonderful if strengthened from early childhood. Speaking of my own experience, I have a sister and two cousins on my mother’s side and four cousins on my father’s side.

I remember with some nostalgia when my cousins, sister, and I gathered for lunch on Saturdays at my maternal grandparents. That day was very special for all of us. It meant that we would all play together, either at my house or at my aunt and uncle’s. The four of us had a very special bond and we were looking forward to seeing each other to play and be together.

However, on the father’s side, there were no such family gatherings. We didn’t live in the same town, so there wasn’t much of a relationship with our paternal cousins. Now that my sister and I are mothers, we try to spend time together with our children. We made sure to create a special bond between them from the start.
